Belgian Malinois Puppies

At Command Control K9 we feel that there are three ingredients needed in order to produce a protection dog that meets our high standards: genetics, environment, and training – in that order.

Genetics:  We research the genetic backgrounds of all of our parent dogs. It is important that not only the parents but the grandparents of our Belgian Malinois puppies have the temperament and strong nerves necessary to train for true protection work.

Environment: Environment plays a vital roll in how our Belgian Malinois puppies develop into adults.  We at Command Control K9 are proud of our facilities. Our large 105 acre site allows us to house and exercise our dogs in an environment much unlike the cramped conditions many of our competitors have. We DO NOT subscribe to the traditional idea of what a kennel should be. Excessive kenneling creates anxiety and bad habits such as spinning and pacing back and forth.  Our dogs are allowed to take advantage of our large site and spend time daily exercising, running and practicing free from a kennel.  Frequent exercise with structure creates a happy canine which leads to stable mental development and increased capacity to learn. Our “kennels” consist of dens that simulate the environment found in nature.

Training:   We train our Belgian  Malinois puppies at a very young age, often at five weeks. We feel that this is a very crucial time for a young puppy; in fact the first five to eight weeks is more important than the next six months of the puppy’s life. Conventionally, most puppies are trained in protection to believe that protection is a game (in “prey”).

Like you, we don’t see protection as a game. In fact, training a puppy in this manner can ruin the potential of a good protection dog regardless of its strong genetics. We train our dogs to see protection as a defense from five weeks of age. This is one reason, among others, that our trained protection dogs are considered to be among the best in the industry.
